Sicilian Baroque December 6th 2009 Arizona American Italian Club

a nome del Comitato Catania Phoenix Sister Cities che presento un breve aggiornamento sull'importante evento del 6 di Dicembre.
A seguito della visita del Professore Thomas Puleo,visita che ha avuto un successo notevole grazie e sopratutto alla straordinaria collaborazione da parte Vostra,amici del comitato Phoenix ed amministrazione della Citta’ di Catania, si proporra'al pubblico in data 6 di Dicembre una presentazione sul "Barocco Siciliano dalle sue origini",presentazione accompagnata da video fotografia.
Hanno gia'confermato che saranno presenti Sindaci e rappresentanti di municipalita' di altre citta' limitrofe e quindi rappresentanti di circoli culturali ed associazioni della citta di Phoenix.
Si e’ avuta conferma che Il console Generale Dottor Nicola Faganello sara’ presente, congiuntamente alla presenza del Vice Console Dottor Massimo Paolillo,massima rappresentanza diplomatica Italiana per lo Stato dell'Arizona sotto il cui auspicio si terra' detto evento.
E’ dovuto far presente e portare a conoscenza che il comitato Catania lavora a stretto contatto con l’Italian American Chamber of Commerce Phoenix Chapter,organizzazione fondata e diretta dalla Signora Mary Anne Desmond, si porta altresi a conoscenza che il Comitato Catania si pregia dell’amicia e collaborazione dell’ Arizona American Italian Club, che presta in modo regola locali ove il comitato stesso si riunisce.
Non nascondo che provo una grandissima gioia ed emozione a comunicarVi quanto sopra,anche perche' credo che continuiamo a confermare che si puo' riuscire a concludere progetti importanti con impegno serio e amore per quello in cui si crede.

Riunione del 15 Ottobre 2009
Come da calendario il Comitato Catania si riunisce il 15 di questo mese presso I locali dell’Arizona American Italian club,sede utilizzata gia’ da molti anni.
In Agenda l’evento del 6 Dicembre che avra’ come attore principale il Professor Puleo con una presentazione scientifica sul Barocco Siciliano, quindi prime origini, ed effetti susseguenti,maggiori dettagli saranno condivisi nel prossimo futuro. Altro argomento in agenda sara’ la WorldFest, una festa popolare a cui partecipano tutti I comitati I quail a loro volta rappresentato la citta’ di appartenenza. Noto con grande soddisfazione che il nostro gruppo e’ cresciuto notevolemente! Una Passeggiata in Via Etnea
Il Piacere di fare una passeggiata,"solamente una passeggiata" senza una meta o scopo altro che fare due passi tra la gente e con la gente, che piacere e che terapia di eccezzione poter "scaricare" lo stress accumulato,poter scambiare proprie opinioni, perche' no promuovere nuove idee.La passeggiata come " actionable marketing" esiste da tempo, ove il naturale allargamente del proprio network avveniva attraverso la presentazione di amico/a ad amico/a , da parente ad amico/a e cosi via. Quanta storia si e' fatta attraverso le passeggiate,ricordo la mia infanzia quando fare due passi era il modo tipico di intrattenimento,senza annessi e connessi,senza telefonini che potessero interrompere conversazioni che spesso avevano peso,amicizie fondate su conversazioni e conoscenze approfondite da migliaia di "due passi" e chiaccherate kilometriche.Quanto altro si potrebbe scrivere,Grazie Salvo Vazzana per questo bel link,

SICILIAN BAROQUE IN MIXED MEDIA
Un ultimo esempio di collaborazione con esemplare esibizione ed attenzione nel portare a termine un progetto a forte connotazione culturale.
Ed e’a nome del Comitato Catania che si ringrazia l’Amministrazione Comunale della Citta’ di Catania ed il gruppo che ha nei fatti eseguito il progetto di collaborazione, il Comitato Phoenix nelll’aver assistito la presenza del Professore Thomas Puleo durante la permanenza in Sicilia per una ricerca approfondita sul Barocco Siciliano nelle sue origini.
Il Professore docente presso l’Universita’ di Stato dell’Arizona presentera’ al grande pubblico il 6 di Dicembre sue conclusioni e risultati di detta ricerca.
Durante la serata gli studenti che hanno partecipato allo student ambassador exchange esibiranno foto e condivideranno loro relazioni sull’esperienza.

Dr. Puleoʹs research interest in Catania is the devastating earthquake of
1693 and the birth of Sicilian Baroque architecture arising in the aftermath.
* A musical interlude of Italian baroque compositions performed ensemble with
period instruments; this performance is given in celebration of the life of Marriann
Gofonia, a long‐time member of the Catania Sister Cities Committee.

Comitato Phoenix
Benvenuti a bordo come "Comitato Phoenix" Cari amici Catanesi, la WorldFest conclusasi si passa aprogetti successivi, Il Global Link e' on course,sara' eccezzionale per la presenza di massimi esperti in materia di Nano Tecnologie. Desideravo riproporre a voi amici quanto scrissi qualche mese fa.
" Cari Amici,
se ero casa vi avrei detto senza tanti preamboli, andiamoci a mangiar una pizza e ci facciamo una bella chiaccherata,mentre da qui sono obbligato ( sono molto grato per la tecnologia ) all'uso della posta elettronica.
In questi anni si e' fatto molto da parte di Catania,appunto come contributo che la Citta' di Catania ha dato a questo gemellaggio,e questo e' dovuto a voi.Questo e' detto in poche parole ed anche semplicemente.Se andiamo a vedere lo scopo dei gemellaggi tutto e quello che facciamo per supportare gli stessi,hanno degli effetti di lungo termine che e' difficilmente si puo' quantificare,e' statisticamente provato che i gemellaggi che funzionano sono di beneficio per le aree geografiche che ne abbracciano il concetto.
Lo scopo di questa' breve comunicazione e' di presentarvi l'un l'altro, la Citta' di Catania per ordine del Signor Sindaco,Dottor Raffaele Stancanelli,ha eletto in rappresentanza ufficiale per gestire appunto il gemellaggio per parte della Citta' di Catania l'assessorato allo Sport,Turismo e Tempo Libero,nella persona del Dottor Antonio Scalia. Ad oggi ho fatto del mio meglio per ragguagliare il Dottor Scalia di tutto quello che avete fatto,e che si e' fatto,come detto sopra,possiamo in tutti i sensi assertare che questo e' un vero e proprio investimento che facciamo nel bene comune. Ad oggi i programmi del "Youth Ambassador Program" "Artistico Culturali" ed "Economici"sono quantomeno esistenti e ben assestati con una roadmap gia' provata,come per esempio lo Youth Ambassador Program ed Artistico Culturali, molto da fare in altri campi. Ancora un importante dettaglio,l'incessante opera di marketing che i Vostri siti web hanno impostato, un lavoro incredibile.

Phoenix Sister Cities Awards
AWARDS
2007 BEST OVERALL PROGRAM
Phoenix Sister Cities was the recipient of the award for Best Overall Program in the United States for cities with populations of 500,000 and over. This award, the most prestigious given by Sister Cities International, recognized Phoenix Sister Cities for innovative exchanges with projects like the Bellini Opera Engagement and the enhanced Youth Ambassador Exchange Program as well as outstanding events like WorldFEST featuring all ten sister cities. It also recognizes excellent local program governance and the participation of numerous volunteers in the promotion of international cooperation and friendship. This represents the 7th time in the past 18 years that Phoenix Sister Cities has received the top award.
2007 DISABILITY ADVOCACY AWARD
Phoenix Sister Cities was the recipient of the 2007 award for Disability Advocacy. This award was the result of two major projects in calendar year 2007: the 2nd Annual International Competition for Artists with Disabilities; and, a workshop on brain trauma given in Hermosillo, Mexico to a total of over 80 therapists. The award also is a product of an adaptive toy distribution targeted to disabled children in Hermosillo. The Disabilities Awareness Committee of Phoenix Sister Cities has now been recognized 7 times in the past 10 years with this well deserved award.
2006 50th Anniversary Award
The Phoenix Sister Cities Commission was a recipient of the Sister Cities International 50th Anniversary Award at the July 2006 conference of Sister Cities International in Washington, DC. The award recognized sister city programs that demonstrated long-term commitment and sustainability of their sister city programs. Community submissions were evaluated on the number and quality of exchange programs that emphasized the role of volunteers as leaders in public diplomacy; comprehensive participation from the community in exchanges and events diverse in scope; and the consistent involvement of local government in the sister city program

At the Sister Cities International conference, Phoenix Sister Cities received the Innovation Award for Sustainable Development in the field of municipal cooperation. This award is in recognition of Phoenix Sister Cities participation with other cities in sharing information and cooperating on issues of mutual concern. Phoenix Sister Cities has continued to cooperate with the Phoenix Police and Fire Department by hosting a delegation from Chengdu, China. This delegation was treated to an in-depth look at the local fire departments as well as public safety program.

This award is in recognition of PSCC's innovative projects and Disabilities Awareness Committee that provides people with disabilities an opportunity to participate in international cooperation and sister cities activities.

The Phoenix Sister Cities Commission received a Best Overall Award in the category of “Best Youth Program” from Sister Cities International for involving youth in organizational activities with all sister cities, specifically the Youth Ambassador Exchange Program, the Chengdu Educational Exchange Programs and Girls Day.
1996 Special Achievement for Education
Sister Cities International presented this award for excellence in Education. Through the efforts of the Phoenix Sister Cities Commission and several innovative teachers at South Mountain High School, students at the inner-city school were able to explore the world around them through the Internet, participate in PSCC/Chengdu Committee events and host students from China. This project was funded from the proceeds of Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates’ book, The Road Ahead.

For the third time, Sister Cities International recognizes Phoenix and their affiliates for the continuance of an exceptional program that demonstrates, at all levels, continuing activity, citizen involvement, and imagination in a wide range of exchange projects.
1995 Special Achievement Award for Trade & Tourism Development
Sister Cities International recognizes U.S. cities that have developed unique exchange projects that contribute to the growth and expansion of a local sister cities program. PSCC, in cooperation with the Maricopa Community District Colleges, the Chengdu Municipal Foreign Affairs Office, the City of Phoenix Community and Economic Development Office, and the Phoenix corporate community, received this award for the establishment of the Chengdu Training Program.
1995 Phoenix Education Partnership Honor Roll
The Phoenix Excellence in Education Commission placed PSCC on the Phoenix Education Partnership Honor Roll in recognition of the Youth Ambassador Exchange Program’s outstanding effort and involvement in education partnerships.

This award represents Sister Cities International’s recognition of U.S. cities and their affiliates that have demonstrated, at all levels, continuing activity, citizen involvement, and imagination in a wide range of exchange projects.
1993 Special Achievement for Cultural Exchange
Sister Cities International presented this award in recognition of Phoenix’s contribution to international understanding through cultural exchanges with Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico and the increase in value of its exchange activities resulting from Viva Hermosillo Days held in Phoenix in 1992.
1991 Special Achievement for Cultural Awareness
Phoenix received this Sister Cities International award for cultural awareness in recognition of coordinating the 100 member Taipei City Symphony’s U.S. debut and participation in Chinese Week 1990.

Il Comitato Catania dell’organizzazione Phoenix Sister Cities informa:
Il Comitato desidera ringraziare L'assessore Allo Sport Turismo e Tempo Libero Dottor Antonio Scalia ed il suo Staff che cura i programmi del gemellaggio per parte della Citta' di Catania.
Si desidera inltre ringraziare gli innumerevoli sforzi effettuati a beneficio di questo gemellaggio da parte dei tanti Cittadini Catanesi e Siciliani, tanti ed innumerevoli che sarebbe impossibile elencare.
Febbraio 27-28 Marzo 1,2009- World FEST, una manifestazione ( annuale ) con fitto calendario di shows e presenze rappresentanti tutte le Citta’ con cui la Citta’ di Phoenix e’ gemellata. La Citta' di Catania e la Citta' di Phoenix sono gemellate dall'anno 2001.
Il Comitato Catania avra’, come per gli anni precedenti una propria area ove esporra’ materiale ed informazioni riguardante la Citta’ di Catania.Volontari membri della Comitato saranno presenti presso il proprio stand per gli interi tre giorni della manifestazione, si prevede che quest’anno ci saranno tra I 15,000 ( quindicimila ) e 20,000 ( ventimila ) presenze.
Maggio 2009- Global links- ( Annuale ) Forum Socio Culturale/Scientifico, il Comitato Catania supportato dalla iniziale sponsorizzazione della StMicroelectronics dalla sua nascita,continua in questa particolare relazione con la presenza quest’anno di uno speaker che rappresentera’ la societa’ stessa. Il tema del Forum quest'anno saranno le nanotecnologie.
Giugno/Luglio 2009- ( Annuale ) Student Ambassadors Exchange, programma annuale di scambio di studenti, il Comitato lavora per assicurare che il programma sia sempre rappresentato con studenti provenienti da entrambe le Citta’. Per la Citta’ di Catania il programma e’ seguito e guidato dall’Istituto Tuttolingue www.tuttolingue.net
Il Comitato Catania si pregia di collaborare e portare avanti progetti di varia natura con altre organzzazioni presenti nello Stato dell'Arizona, tra cui la Italo American Chamber of Commerce,l' Arizona American Italian Club, Ufficio internazionale per le Pubbliche relazioni di Phoenix, il Vice Consolato di Phoenix, l'Arizona State University,ed altre ancora.
Il Comitato desidera ricordare la trasferta ( 5 Ottobre 2007 ) del Teatro Massimo Vincenzo Bellini, per mano del geniale Direttore Artistico Ignazio Monaco il quale ha gestito una rappresentazione unica a cui e’ intervenuta la Governatrice dello Stato dell’Arizona Janet Napolitano.
Il Comitato desidera ricordare l’esposizione dei costume della collezione del Museo Belliniano,esposizione avvenuta presso il terminal quattro dell’aerostazione del Phoenix Sky Harbor. L'esposizione e' durata sei mesi ( Ottobre 2007 Maggio 2008 )
Il Comitato desidera ricordare la recente mostra da parte del TEOE Thru Each Other’s Eyes per mano del fotografo professionista Riccardo Lombardo,avvenuta a Catania presso il monastero dei Benedittini.
Per finire il Comitato Catania desidera ricordare e mettere in risalto il lavoro fatto dal fondatore di www.Cataniaperte.it www.Etnavally.com webmaster e fondatore Salvo Vazzana per il grande e consistente coverage che ha dato e continua a dare alle iniziative del gemellaggio.
Sarebbe lungo e noioso ( per chi legge ) elencare tutte le attivita' svolte ad oggi da questa organizzazione ( non profit ) il nostro desiderio e' di poter continuare a lavorare ed intensificare relazioni che portino a risultati concreti a beneficio reciproco delle rispettive cittadinanze.
