The Catania Committee of Phoenix Sister Cities presents a multi‐media event celebrating the culture of its Sister City through:
* A visual lecture by Dr. Thomas Puleo, Assistant Professor in
the School of Political Science and Global Studies at Arizona State University,Tempe.
Dr. Puleoʹs research interest in Catania is the devastating earthquake of
1693 and the birth of Sicilian Baroque architecture arising in the aftermath.
* A musical interlude of Italian baroque compositions performed ensemble with
period instruments; this performance is given in celebration of the life of Marriann
Gofonia, a long‐time member of the Catania Sister Cities Committee.
* The photography of Phoenixʹs Youth Ambassadors to the City of Catania, Sicily,
captured during the Summer of 2009.

There will be door prizes and hors dʹoeuvres served, and each ticket is redeemable
for one glass of wine or beer, or a soft drink.
